Dry Ingredients
- 1-3/4 Cup AP flour
- 2 Tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 Tsp ground Ginger
- 1/2 Tsp ground Cloves
- 1/2 Tsp ground Nutmeg fresh grated is best if you can.
Wet Ingredients
- 1/4 Cup Butter room temperature
- 1/4 Cup Vegetable Shortening
- 1 Large Egg
- 1-1/4 Cup Brown Sugar Packed
Finishing Touches
- 1/2 Cup diced Walnuts
- 1/3 Cup diced Dates
Wet Ingredients
Using an electric mixer, mix together the Butter, Shortening, Brown Sugar and Egg until well combined.
Then slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix them together using a Spatula or a big spoon. Don't use your electric mixer.
Bake
Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 Minutes or just until golden brown around the edges. Careful not to over bake. They go from "done" to "over done" very fast.
Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes then make that cup of tea. Grab a couple of still warm cookies, inhale the aroma and take a big bite. Enjoy!
