I Am A Total Flying Geek

March 14, 2016 by Karen Giebel Leave a Comment

I admit it. I am a total, hopeless, helpless, awestruck , fascinated, fly through the air Geek! Doesn’t matter where I am going, I will book that window seat, crane and sprain my neck, press my nose against the glass and oogle and awe my way through the air! I absolutely love it all. From take off, which is the BEST part. Up, up and away! Then waving goodbye to my home turf.To breaking through the clouds and busting out into the brilliant blue sky and endless sunshine. Or, how about night flying, when the sun sets on the horizon and the city lights flicker on. Then crossing say, Montana, where I am sure I’m looking at Ranch lights a 100 miles from town. I look, watch and wonder what people are doing so very far below. Heading in for dinner? Tucking the babies in bed? Sitting at the bedside of an ill loved one? It’s all fascinating to me. Today, I got up at 5am,  and we left for the airport at 6:45 am. We left Munich which was cold and damp at 9:45 am and flew across the barren, ice caped Alps to the gorgeous Mediterranean port city of Barcelona, Spain. Here, let me show you a few images of why I love to fly!

Bye Munich! See ya in a few!

Oh….and see that missing paint? This is an Air Bus, OK? This is not a Boeing aircraft. I don’t know why I am saying this, but I just wanted you to know.

Leaving Germany

Busting through the clouds and dazzled by the sun!

Missing Paint

Surfing over the Swiss Alps. Desolate and stunning at the same time. No roads. No towns. No people. Total isolation.

Watching the Cumulus Cloud formations growing. Just an amazingly different perspective on clouds than from down on terra firma. However, they do signal turbulence coming right up. Let’s just say, we weren’t disappointed!

A break in the clouds and what do I spy with my little eye? The Mediterranean and Spain! Oh my gosh! It’s Spain! I told you I was a geek. Don’t say you weren’t warned :-). How geeky, you may ask? Well, the couple next to me on the plane were sleeping. They were NO fun at all!

And thar she blows! Barcelona!! A absolute gem on the Mediterranean Sea.

Land Ho!

Land Ho!

Circling out to sea to prepare for landing. It’s all good with me. I get to see the sea and the city from all angles and it’s all wonderful!

Did I tell you how much I love fly……………………OH LOOK! A Marina! Did I tell you how much we love sailing? LOL!

Marina

Yes, I love to fly and to sail and to just live life to the fullest!

So, we are here in Barcelona and I can guarantee you that whatever we do and wherever we go, it will be one grand experience!

Wherever you are on your journey today, whether it be walking a country mile or looking out  a city window, I hope your day is Blessed with happiness. Journey on!

Love to all,

Karen, TJG
